Villa Isola has hosted an experimental laboratory in which the students have made prototypes sensitive to environmental stimuli. Exploring the materials intelligence, they have obtained structures able to react to changing external conditions through a different configuration of its own equilibrium. With techniques of self-generation of form, the students have produced different material systems starting from the same initial element. The form and its characteristics are not designed, but become a response to the new state of tension that integrates within it many aspects that can coexist and interact in synergy with the object. Lastly, some prototypes were simulated with parametric models in Grasshopper and made responsive thanks to Arduino.
